This client had an existing collection of alpine plants and sedum that they wanted to include in a new garden. We designed a garden that would allow them extensive use of their generous backyard and give them the opportunity to show off their plant collections. Dry-laid basalt garden walls and gravel walks move you through the garden and create beds for planting. Carefully placed boulders encourage and highlight alpine plants. Out the back of the house a slightly more refined circular bluestone terrace provides a spot for a table and chairs and connects the inside and outside. A new greenhouse lets the client house their more delicate and prize plants. It is connected visually to the garden with a basalt base.
