Basalt retaining walls with “beehive” piers, transformed this underused and hard to access hillside into a beautiful terraced garden. An inviting lawn, seating area with a fire-pit and a garden bench surrounded by lush planting provide intimate places to enjoy the garden. It is reminiscent of an english garden in its elements and sequence, but wholly of the Pacific Northwest in its materials and connection to the landscape.
